“Why must the prettiest flowers bloom near harshest winters”
This is a quote I originally heard from a friend, it immediately intrigued
me and I knew that there was music in this. I asked her what flower
she was referring to and she told me an Esperanza flower in her backyard.
This piece tells the story about this flower. The beginning sets the scene of
a garden, full of life. Then the winter approaches and the music turns dark
and cold. Eventually the harsh cold destroys the garden and we are left
with a dead garden. But after winter, comes spring, the piece ends on a major
chord, symbolizing that the flower and the rest of the garden will grow
again, and ultimately the piece is about the circle of life.
